2009 Mongoose Pinn'R (Freeride), Black, Large

Buy Cheap 2009 Mongoose Pinn'R (Freeride), Black, Large

Buy Low Price From Here Now

The Pinnr is a true freeride bike that will definately make an impact in the industry. The head tube features a low-stack headset that minimizes unwanted front-end loft. The tube set features remarkably angular, styley, monocoque profiles with a bent top tube to maximize standover. The Pinn'r also has an interrupted seat tube that makes way for the shock and mounts and a remarkably high down tube. The design is brutally strong, stiff and uniquely Mongoose. For those of us that believe weld beads are art, you are going to be able to stand back and drink in the beauty of long, exquisite lines. Mountain bikes could learn a thing or two about cable routing from the world of road bikes, where visible lines are taboo. The Pinnr does not have internally routed cables but the routing is remarkably low-key, passing along the down tube through specific channels that run below the shock and its mounts. The Pinnr also uses a unique suspension design that Mongoose calls FreeDrive. The bottom bracket and mount for the shock are on a separate frame component from the front or rear triangles, and float between the two main frame pieces using a series of pivots and a small dogbone. (See video below) Features: FRAME: New Mongoose FreeDrive Freeride 6061 Aluminum w/ Patented Floating BB, 1.5 Headtube, 150mm Maxle Dropouts, 190mm Travel FORK/SHOCK: Marzocchi 66 RCV w/ Preload, Compression & Rebound Adjust, 180mm Travel, 20mm Tool-Free Thru-Axle; Fox Van R Coilover w/ Piggyback Reservoir, Rebound & Preload Adjust DRIVETRAIN: Shimano SLX 9-Speed Derailleur & Deore Trigger Shifter; Gravity Step Up 36t Crankset w/ External Bearings & E.13 LG Chainguide BRAKES: Avid Juicy 3 Hydraulic Disc, 203mm Rotors

 "Not too shabby..." 2008-07-22
By Anthony
I like this bike over-all, but I needed to adjust the derailleurs out of the box and quite drastically. Also, the rear brake was completely disconnected. WARNING: MONGOOSE WILL NOT HONOR THEIR USUAL LIFETIME WARRANTY WHEN PURCHASED FROM AMAZON!!!! I had a small defect that's not covered, but I emailed them and it was resolved to my satisfaction.

As far as the lack of kickstand goes, this is a budget/entry level pro mountain bike - most of the time these don't have kickstands because they get in the way. If you're looking for a bike to ride in the city or light retain like gravel or dirt paths, this bike is overkill.

 "Great bike except" 2008-06-21
By Brian T (Gaithersburg, MD United States)
This bike works as advertised, I was easily able to switch over my standard kickstand from my old bike. My only problem was right out of the box the highest gear slipped. I have tinkered with the derauler for two days and have been unable to fix it.

 "No kick stand" 2008-01-20
By Velvelyn Jelks (chicago, ill)
This bike is what my man wanted for christmas in 07 and i got it and would you believe it didn't come with a kick stand; so now i have to take it to a bike shop and have them to put one on it. You would think for the money i paid for this bike it would automatic come with a kick stand but i guess i thought wrong on this one.

"good general bike at a nice price" 2007-10-23
By C. Hug (Boston, MA)
I'm generally happy with this bike and everything on it appears to work correctly. It might just be that I'm not used to the front suspension yet, but at times it seems that the bike isn't built very solidly. But at any rate, I expect to get a lot of good use out of this bike.

 "Exactly as advertised" 2009-02-03
By S. Belau (Farmington, CT)
This bicycle is exactly as advertised. Assembly took about 30 minutes and I was up and running. The rear gears needed some slight adjusting, then everything worked great. For the price, this is a good bicycle. The one drawback is that it is quite heavy. Other than that I have no complaints.

 "Disappointed" 2008-03-19
By Midwest birdwatcher (SW Missouri)
One of the main reasons I chose this bike (and thought I was paying a little extra) was because it was advertised with 24 speeds, which I wanted for the hilly gravel roads we have here. Once I had it all assembled, I realized it only has 21 speeds. Assembly takes about an hour to unpack, inflate tires, mount front tire, attach handle bar, attach & adjust seat, and attach pedals. A tune-up would take several hours more as the brakes, the wobble in the front wheel, and both derailleurs need adjusting at the very least. For this I recommend the book Bicycle Maintenance & Repair (by Bicycling magazine). The documentation provided with the bike is thorough, but really intended for someone with technical knowledge and know-how. The stamped serial number is not legible - half of it's missing - so it can't be used for identification purposes if the bike is stolen. The bike appears to be of good average quality, but is not as advertised, and has to be returned.

"A good bike for the price" 2007-11-04
By B. T. Cole (Fresno, CA USA)
This bike has a 6061 aircraft quality aluminum frame with aluminum alloy for forks and a alloy steel rear triangle. Easy assembly with basic hand tools within 30 minutes. you will need a tire pump since the tires are only partially filled at the factory. The shifters needed some adjustment to get in the correct gear which was easy. The bike features quick release hubs, (front and rear), a quick release seat post and thumb styles shifters. The bike has a very smooth ride compared to a traditional hard frame and could be even smoother if the tires were switched to comfort style tires but that would limit the bike to paved surfaces. My son who is more of an avid rider that myself said this bike was better than his Diamondback Outlook.

Overall, if you are looking for an entry to mid level bike that is better than the run of the mill department store stuff. this might be your bike especially during the August clearance sale when they change year models/colors. The free shipping and no sales tax makes it even more attractive.

"Great bike and I can prove it!!!!!!" 2006-06-09
By M. Shatila (Burbank, CA)
I bought 2004 model (same but red/white color). It was on clearance at Amazon for $229.00 total. I used it on the bike lane beside my house with the kids. With the gas sky rocketing I decided to carpool, so started to bike 1 1/2 each way to the subway station to meet my ride and lock my bike with heavy duty cable. There are about 50 to 100 bikes chained to serires of posts. The bike was great. Shifts were smooth, the dual suspension makes you feel that you are riding on air. After couple month my bike was stolen. From all the bike, some were better than mine with less thicker cable, the ..... choose my bike. I was dsapointed, espacially I was enjoying the ride and the smootheness of the bike. Now I'm using my old bike which no one will take even if I left it unlocked. I bought a new Master Lock Street Cuff and a very thick chain (both with warranties to replace the bike if the lock was broken).

Now, I'm waiting for my birthday in August and hoping the bike will go on sale till then.

I strongly recommend the bike. I will buy one in august.

2009 Mongoose Boot'R (Downhill) Mountain Bike, Black, Large

Buy Cheap 2009 Mongoose Boot'R (Downhill) Mountain Bike, Black, Large

Buy Low Price From Here Now

The Boot'r frame is impressive, with a lot of little bits and touches that I was not expecting to see. The blue 'goose sports a 1.5" head tube up front, filled with a low-stack internal headset to keep things low and strong. Both the top and down tubes feature multi profiled shapes in the name of stiffness and stand over height. Cable routing simply disappears into the frame, with the built in guides under the forward shock mount being one of those "little bits" that all add up to a quality build. It's also good to see that the Boot'r uses as short as possible hardware for its Vivid's shock mounting reducers and bolts, a load stronger than running long bolts that bend easy. Those same bolts are also countersunk into the frame, for aerodynamics obviously! Every bead on the entire frame is even and consistent, no shoddy Friday afternoon welding to be found on this 'goose.
