- A do-it-all 29er frame with Sling Power suspension that handles like a 26" but plows over everything - as a 29er should. It's called The Farmboy and it uses Slingshot Bikes' unique Dogbone Flexboard, a Coil Spring and Cable suspension to achieve forward 'Sling Power'. Here's how it works: In a pedal rotation of a traditional bike design there is a "dead" portion in the power stroke where you get no benefit from your expended effort. The Slingshot design provides an efficient use of pedal energy throughout the entire pedal revolution resulting in greater speed with the same expended energy. The pedal energy is stored in the spring compression - then released at the "dead" portion of the pedal stroke, effectively increasing the length of the power stroke. Any energy not going directly to the rear wheel (forward power) is momentarily stored, returning 100% in the "dead" portion of the power stroke.- Slingshot frames using Sling Power technology use 3 components to release the stored energy. The Dogbone Flexboard, located just in front of the seat tube provides independent mid-suspension. It's a fiberglass board that's self-aligning and replaceable. A Coil Spring, located where the head and top join, absorbs shock and stores pedal energy. The Stainless Steel Cable, located where the downtube would be, attaches to the Coil Spring and the bottom bracket. The cable links the front and rear frame components. Combined, the Farmboy 29er has the potential to turn every bump in the trail into forward motion by using stored energy. When you hit a bump, the front absorbs the shock by compressing the spring and flexing the fiberglass board which temporarily increases the wheelbase. On the return, the suspension redirects the force into forward motion. Build up a Farmboy 29er with the same components you would use on your 29in.
