I wasn't going to put up a review but someone who didn't even use this product was trashing all Blackburn products. That seemed unfair so here I am.



I have an older Blackburn Mammoth pump and it's very well built -- aluminum tube, rod, and valve-lock lever. IIRC, it can also be taken totally apart and lubed or rebuilt.



Looking at the reviews at a popular cycling review site, this pump, in its various incarnations, received over 4 out of 5 stars after 113 reviews. So a one-star rating here heavily skewing things is very misleading.

I wouldn't want to fill a car tire with it, but it works great for my bike tires. It locks onto the valve stem easily, and I like the little cap that keeps dirt out of the nozzle. Not a bad little pump at all.

Dont buy this product. I have the other mountain bike pump which is same junk just smaller. Its 90% plastic which doesnt hold up even with very occasional use. Save your money, get something else.

I had written a glowing review of this bicycle, so satisfied was I with it after buying it in October 2008. As soon as said review was posted, things started going wrong: I have had to replace the crank cup and both crank bearings because the crank kept coming loose. The rear derailleur would not maintain shifting, so I had to replace that; and the freewheel started spinning forwards, similar to how it will when peddling backwards, so I had to change that also. The chain wheel has, somehow, become bent -- I will have to replace that soon. I have also had to replace the front and rear break arms as the spring wore out. (All of this, save the problem with the freewheel, began after about 400-plus miles of riding).



The frame is wonderful; I really love the design. The tires and front wheel are good. There are plenty of mounting points on the frame for whatever apparatus one could hope to put on it. As another reviewer noted, it does not come with a kickstand (this was not an issue for me as I intended to put a different one on anyway). If you want a neat frame to work off of, I would suggest this bike, but the components are crap.

- The rapid response of the coil spring is what gives the ERB the energy return near the end of your power stroke. The vanadium steel spring coupled to the stainless steel cable is like the heart of the Energy Return System. These springs are the same as those used in industries where springs are required to respond hundreds of thousands and into the millions of cycles under extremely heavy loads. That means your spring will literally last you FOREVER. Not only does the spring return energy, it is also what controls the amount of travel in the suspension and what continually pulls the wheels back to the ground quickly after slamming bumps .
- The precisely machined Composite rods allow the frame to flex slightly up and down helping the bike maintain traction and smoothing the ride. The amount of wheel travel amounts to a maximum of about one inch. Fastened side by side the two incredibly resilient and durable rods work together to resist frame twist. As you can see there is only a short portion of the rods exposed between the front and rear sections of the frame. OK, first of all, I'm not a pro. mountain biker. I'm a 41yr old "normal" person and my rating reflects that. But then again I doubt that a pro. would even be looking at this one. The reason I got this type is that I live in a small town with rough roads and I go camping a lot, so thought this would be perfect. I ordered the red one, received in great shape, packed well, and had no scratches or the such. Very pleased with the build and quality of the bike and parts. Not top of the line but I knew this when buying it. But for the price I am very happy. It was a bit hard to put together, but not to bad. The gears worked great and did not need adjusted at all. Had to adjust the brakes of course. The only thing I did not like was there was no instructions for putting it together. But that was expected. This was an upgrade from a "Wal-Mart" quality bike. And boy could I tell the BIG difference between the two, in build and ride. I will never go back to the other cheaper kind again. The fact that you get what you pay for is very true in this case. I did a lot of looking before I got this one. Be sure you check the sizes, I'm 6ft tall and almost got the large one, but then I checked the info for sizing on the info Amazon has on bikes on other bikes, I'm glad I took the time to do that as I needed the Med. size one. Lastly it is a bit heavy, weighs about the same as my old steel frame bike, but this one is bigger, my old one was a 24in. and this one is made much better and I could tell the size difference in everything. So all in all a great bike. Oh, one more thing, The Pictures show no reflectors on the bike, so I bought some. Well I received the bike, and guess what? It came with reflectors. This kind of sucked that I spent the money on things I did not need, but they were cheap. And it does NOT come with a kickstand, I also figured it would not so ordered one for it too.
