I wasn't going to put up a review but someone who didn't even use this product was trashing all Blackburn products. That seemed unfair so here I am.

I have an older Blackburn Mammoth pump and it's very well built -- aluminum tube, rod, and valve-lock lever. IIRC, it can also be taken totally apart and lubed or rebuilt.

Looking at the reviews at a popular cycling review site, this pump, in its various incarnations, received over 4 out of 5 stars after 113 reviews. So a one-star rating here heavily skewing things is very misleading.

I wouldn't want to fill a car tire with it, but it works great for my bike tires. It locks onto the valve stem easily, and I like the little cap that keeps dirt out of the nozzle. Not a bad little pump at all.

Dont buy this product. I have the other mountain bike pump which is same junk just smaller. Its 90% plastic which doesnt hold up even with very occasional use. Save your money, get something else.

- Here's how Sling Power works: In a pedal rotation of a traditional bike design, there's a "dead" portion in the power stroke where you get no benefit from your expended effort. Slingshot's design provides an efficient use of pedal energy throughout the entire pedal revolution resulting in greater speed with the same expended energy. The pedal energy is stored in the spring compression - then released at the "dead" portion of the pedal stroke, effectively increasing the length of the power stroke. Any energy not going directly to the rear wheel (forward power) is momentarily stored, returning 100% in the "dead" portion of the power stroke.
- The Ripper uses 3 components to release the stored energy. The Dogbone Flexboard, located just in front of the seat tube provides independent mid-suspension. "Great frame, bad parts" 2009-02-18

I had written a glowing review of this bicycle, so satisfied was I with it after buying it in October 2008. As soon as said review was posted, things started going wrong: I have had to replace the crank cup and both crank bearings because the crank kept coming loose. The rear derailleur would not maintain shifting, so I had to replace that; and the freewheel started spinning forwards, similar to how it will when peddling backwards, so I had to change that also. The chain wheel has, somehow, become bent -- I will have to replace that soon. I have also had to replace the front and rear break arms as the spring wore out. (All of this, save the problem with the freewheel, began after about 400-plus miles of riding).

The frame is wonderful; I really love the design. The tires and front wheel are good. There are plenty of mounting points on the frame for whatever apparatus one could hope to put on it. As another reviewer noted, it does not come with a kickstand (this was not an issue for me as I intended to put a different one on anyway). If you want a neat frame to work off of, I would suggest this bike, but the components are crap.

- Sling Power technology eliminates the 'dead' portion of your pedal stroke. Here's how: In the pedal rotation of a traditional bike design there is a 'dead' portion in the power stroke where you get no benefit from your expended effort. The Slingshot design provides an efficient use of pedal energy throughout the entire pedal revolution resulting in greater speed with the same expended energy. The pedal energy is stored in the spring compression - then released at the 'dead' portion of the pedal stroke, effectively increasing the length of your power stroke. Any energy not going directly to the rear wheel (forward power) is momentarily stored, returning 100% in the 'dead' portion of the power stroke.
- Slingshot frames using Sling Power technology use 3 components to release the stored energy. The Dogbone Flexboard, located just in front of the seat tube provides independent mid-suspension. The Pinnr is a true freeride bike that will definately make an impact in the industry. The head tube features a low-stack headset that minimizes unwanted front-end loft. The tube set features remarkably angular, styley, monocoque profiles with a bent top tube to maximize standover. The Pinn'r also has an interrupted seat tube that makes way for the shock and mounts and a remarkably high down tube. The design is brutally strong, stiff and uniquely Mongoose. For those of us that believe weld beads are art, you are going to be able to stand back and drink in the beauty of long, exquisite lines. Mountain bikes could learn a thing or two about cable routing from the world of road bikes, where visible lines are taboo. The Pinnr does not have internally routed cables but the routing is remarkably low-key, passing along the down tube through specific channels that run below the shock and its mounts. The Pinnr also uses a unique suspension design that Mongoose calls FreeDrive. The bottom bracket and mount for the shock are on a separate frame component from the front or rear triangles, and float between the two main frame pieces using a series of pivots and a small dogbone.
